The terms lockout and tagout refer to practices and procedures that protect workers from unexpected activation or start-up of machines and equipment or from the dangerous release of energy when servicing machines. This course explains the importance of the lockout and tagout process in protecting the health and safety of people.

Employers must train ALL employees in the basic concepts of hazardous materials control, including energy isolation, locking out and tagging out control devices, ensuring power is turned off, and clearing hazardous points before re-energizing the equipment. Workers whose duties involve the installation, maintenance or repair of equipment must complete training on the detailed control procedures required for the equipment in question. This training must enable them to recognize tasks likely to expose them to dangers, as well as effective methods to limit this exposure.

Success criteria
The participant must pass the evaluation at the end of each module to be able to move on to the next module. Individuals who do not obtain a 100% grade may review the content and repeat the assessment as many times as necessary to pass the course.

Certificate
After successfully completing all modules, the participant will be able to print a copy of their certificate and keep it in their files.
